Bow Ballers High Performance Training Program

The Bow Ballers High Performance Training Program is designed for Maroochy River Rowing Club’s most committed youth athletes who are actively pursuing performance pathways toward Queensland and National rowing selection.

This program provides a structured, athlete-centred pathway focused on developing the technical excellence, physical capacity, mental resilience, and racing intelligence required to compete successfully at State Championships, Australian National Championships, and future international opportunities.

Program Structure

On-Water Training
• 4–6 morning sessions per week (5:00–7:00am)
• Emphasis on high-level boat speed, advanced technique, crew cohesion, and race execution

Strength & Conditioning
• 2–3 supervised afternoon sessions per week
• Individualised programs targeting strength, power, endurance, mobility, and injury prevention

Performance Monitoring
• Regular ergometer testing, race simulations, and threshold assessments
• Goal setting aligned with Queensland and National performance benchmarks

Technical Development
• Video analysis, targeted feedback, and technical clinics
• Ongoing refinement of stroke efficiency, boat balance, and racing effectiveness

Competition & Pathway Preparation
• Regatta planning and performance peaking
• Education in race preparation, nutrition, recovery, and mental skills
• Guidance toward Queensland State Team and National development pathways

Athlete Support

• Injury prevention and rehabilitation guidance
• Support in balancing school commitments, training load, and recovery
• Individual mentoring focused on long-term development and pathway progression

Expectations

Bow Ballers athletes are expected to demonstrate:
• Consistent attendance and commitment
• Personal accountability and professional training standards
• Respect for teammates, coaches, and the program pathway

Families must also be prepared for the time commitments, competition schedule, and performance expectations that accompany a high-performance pathway.

The Bow Ballers program exists to develop technically exceptional, physically robust, and mentally resilient athletes, equipped with the habits, mindset, and experience required to progress confidently along Queensland and National selection pathways — while representing Maroochy River Rowing Club with integrity, teamwork, and pride.
