The Rockover River Rowers are a competitive development squad at Maroochy River Rowing Club, designed for athletes who have shown strong potential and are committed to advancing their skills, strength, and racing ability.
This squad is for rowers who are ready to step up to a higher level of training intensity, with the long-term goal of moving into the club’s High Performance Program or consistently achieving strong results at State and National school competitions.
Program Structure:
On-Water Sessions: 3 structured rowing sessions per week (early mornings and weekends), focused on improving technical consistency, race readiness, and crew combinations.
Off-Water Training: 2 afternoons per week (land-based), including strength training, fitness circuits, core stability, and rowing-specific mobility work.
Skill Development: Focus on refining boat skills, improving split times, developing race strategies, and building confidence under pressure.
Competition Focus:
Queensland Schools Championships (September)
Club Grade Championships (December)
Queensland State Championships (January)
Performance Progression: Gradual exposure to performance benchmarks, race simulations, and feedback sessions to prepare athletes for future High Performance opportunities.
